Effect of Contact

When I became born again, the first thing I prayed for was separation from the wrong company. God actually answered that prayer and I lost some friendships that wouldn't help my spiritual growth.

Sometime ago, my aunt came visiting and she brought things home for us. During the time of her visit we had an occasion coming up so everyone was busy, we didn't use all she brought and so we forgot about it. 

After the occasion, we wanted to use a particular food item we had in the house, we discovered that the food item was becoming bad. During the process of removing the item from the container we realized that what my aunt brought was at the bottom of the container and it was bad, then I realized the effect of its negative influence on the good product.

It is really terrible that a good product will come in contact with a bad product and start becoming bad. The only way to preserve the good foodstuff was by separation.

Many times we get associated with the wrong company and if there is no separation fast we also get corrupted. That is why God's word warned us against evil communication, the Bible places so much emphasis on association. This is because we can be no different from our association.

I have realized that my Christian journey have been greatly assisted by my association and that at any point where there is a bridge with my relationship with God a negative influence just entered my life.

I have come to the conclusion that one have to consciously and deliberately choose their company and also be very observant to detect changes in your life when you have a new influence in your life.

It is a big lie when people claim no one can influence them, everyone on earth is a product of other peoples influence whether positive or negative. It is our choice to decide the kind of influence we allow in our lives.
