Stuck in Tradition
Hello Champ ☺️
Welcome to the eighth month of the year, it has been an amazing experience in these past months, though challenging but that's part of life.
I think the ups and downs makes the process of living worth it, so it is best you learn how to enjoy life no matter the situation.
Today's post from the title, focuses on our attachment to certain behaviors and culture which may not be of any importance a given time. You definitely will get value from this, trust me. 😌
During my National Youth Service Corp three weeks orientation camp, I decided to wash every two days and I usually did this in the night. I felt it was the best thing to do since I didn't want to stress myself during the day considering how stressful and busy camp was.
I later noticed that when others were fast asleep in the night, I was busy washing till midnight, after which I could only get three hours sleep since I had to wake up by 3am, the amazing thing was I didn't even get the opportunity to sleep or rest in the during the day.
It wasn't easy for me but I felt I had already started so it was of no use to quit the routine. When it was towards the end of camp I started washing during the day, it was the best strategy I would have employed but I was so stuck in Tradition that I stressed myself for about two weeks.
Like many people, I find it difficult to leave a particular thing simply because I feel I am used to it. This affected me greatly during my stay in the university, when I got into school most people were talking about how best it was to read at night. So, I felt the night was best and it even proved how serious you were.
I never bothered to find out what worked for me personally, I even joined others to attend night classes. Eventually, I stopped attending night classes after I had issues with some course in third year. Though it took me time to realize it wasn't my thing.
Here is the thing, because you are used to doing things a particular way doesn't mean there are no best ways to do that same thing. Now, this theory is subjective that is to say the way you are doing it may be the best.
In all be flexible, teachable and be ready to change. Try new things and be very observant to know what works best for you.
