Children's Obedience!

Image
My previous post was on parental support, but today we will be focusing more on the responsibilities of children, so they can fully enjoy their parent's support. The focus for the month of July has been marriage and family, as we know family is the smallest unit in the society which implies it's affect the wellbeing of the entire society. In science, we were taught that cells are the smallest part of an organ and anything that affects the cell affects the entire organ. So, doing marriage and family right will in turn bring about a better society. I told the story of some individuals who enjoyed parental support and went to the top in their realm of influence. Geeta Kumari (an India Female Wrestler) at some point in her life felt her Dad (who was her first coach) was no longer eligible to train her and he's idea was old school and she decided to do things her way.  She didn't find her actions funny and eventually returned back to her father's coaching and...

Parental Support

Image
I have mentioned this saying in my previous post but it's important I mention it here again for emphasis sake. "By choosing a spouse, you are choosing a father or mother for your children". I have come to understand the necessity of parental support in the lives of children. Even though we are responsible for our outcome in life as individuals, parental influence has a huge role to play in our becoming. From the stories of Dr. Ben Carson, The Antetokounmpo's (Basket Ball Players), Venus and Serena Williams (Tennis Players), Geeta and Babita Kumari (India Female Wrestlers) and many more have proven that parental support and encouragement cannot be overemphasized. These amongst many were individuals who got to the level they are now because their parents believed in them even when no one did. It's a beautiful thing when your child has his/her life figured out but it's important to support your child even when it looks like he/she has nothing figured ...

The Mystery of Marriage.

Image
Walking home alone after an evening service in church, several thoughts rushed through my mind but one got stucked "why shouldn't you cheat on your spouse"? This was the highlight of my thoughts. God expects us to be faithful to Him, He saved us and desires that we stay committed to Him. In the 10 commandments, He required that we serve Him alone and never bow or worship other god's, as the scripture says "Our God is a jealous God". Where is all these leading to? In Ephesians 5:21-32, the Bible likened our relationship with Christ with that of a married couple, so, why is cheating or polygamy not accepted in God's kingdom?  It is anti-God's agenda The same way God has commanded us not to share His attention with any other, is the same way He expects a man and woman to stay together as husband and wife and not share their attention with anyone outside their marriage. God's intention for marriage is same as the one in the 10 commandment...

Who You Marry!

Inspiration - The Story of Jehoram and Ahaziah (2 Chronicles 21&22) The series for the month will be on marriage and family, it's going to be an amazing journey this July. Stay updated During my Bible study sometime ago, I came across the story of Jehoram and Ahaziah. It was such a striking story and I learnt about the power and influence of marriage in a person's life. I once heard a preacher say "when choosing a spouse, remember that you are choosing a parent for your children". In other words don't just consider your feelings for someone, consider if they will be of good example to your children as parents. Jehoram, King of Judah married the daughter of King Ahab of Israel (an evil and brutal king). Jehoram was greatly influenced by his wife, he ultimately followed the ways of his wife's family. The Bible admonishes us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers because God knows the power of influence in every relationship. Jehoram didn'...
